Provo Rental Ordinance
Provo Rental Ordinance
Enforcement of some of the ordinances in Provo has been met with a variety of challenges. The most common violation has been over occupancy. Enforcement of ordinances governing the occupancy of rentals has been a topic of debate for some time in the City. Zoning officials and other stakeholders have been considering possible solutions for some time and in November of 2017, the City Council passed The Rental Disclosure ordinance. The intent of the ordinance is to provide a tool to aid in the enforcement of, and compliance with, occupancy limits already in place under the law in Provo. City Councilman Dave Sewell (City Wide Seat) spent some time with us to discuss the details of the rental disclosure ordinance to give more clarity for landlords and renters.
What problem does the disclosure ordinance aim to address?
What is the rental disclosure ordinance?
What does the landlord and renter need to know?
How will the disclosure policy be enforced?
